Klim Expert is a one-person software services practice operated by Dmytro Klymentiev, an independent engineer based in Chicago, Illinois. This Privacy Policy explains what information I collect when you visit klim.expert, how I use it, and your rights over it. This page is written in plain English on purpose — if anything is unclear, ask me directly.
I am the data controller for everything described below. There is no marketing department, no offshore data team, and no advertising network buying or selling your data through this site.

Information I collect
Information you provide voluntarily
When you fill out the contact form on this site, I collect:
- Name (optional)
- Email address (required if you don't provide a phone number)
- Phone number (optional)
- Message content (required)
- Consent checkbox (required, with timestamp)
I store the form submission so I can reply to you. That is the only purpose. I do not add you to a newsletter — there is no newsletter on this site.
Information collected automatically
This site uses Statio, a privacy-first analytics tool I helped build. Statio stores no tracking cookies and does not fingerprint you. It collects:
- Page URLs you visit on klim.expert
- Referrer URL (the link you clicked to get here, if any)
- Time spent on the page, scroll depth, clicks on calls-to-action
- Approximate location derived from your IP (country and region only — your IP itself is hashed for bot detection and discarded after a short window)
- Browser type and screen size (e.g. "Chrome on macOS, 1440px wide")
- A pseudonymous session token stored in your browser's
localStorage(not a cookie) so I can attribute multi-page visits to one anonymous session. This token is not linked to your real identity.
The site also loads Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics 4 for traditional analytics during the period when paid Google Ads are running. If and when paid ads start, this site will additionally use Google Ads conversion tracking. See the Cookie Notice for the exact tags in use.
A small AI chat widget ("Ask Dmytro") provided by Knowster.chat is embedded on every page. It only collects data when you actually open it and type a message — it does not log passive visitors.
What I do not collect
- I do not run a newsletter, mailing list, or pixel-based remarketing audiences I sell to.
- I do not sell, rent, or share your contact form data with third parties for marketing.
- I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
How I use your information
- To respond to your inquiry. When you submit the form, I read it and reply.
- To understand which pages and channels work. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics only.
- To prevent fraud and abuse (rate limiting, bot detection on the form).
- To comply with the law when properly compelled.
I do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
Who I share data with
I share data only with the service providers I genuinely need to run this site:
- Statio (analytics) — self-hosted by me on infrastructure I control.
- Google (Tag Manager, Analytics, Ads conversion tracking when active).
- Knowster.chat (AI chat widget on every page).
- Email provider (to deliver and read your form submissions).
- Hosting provider (server logs, retained briefly for security).
I do not sell your data. If I am ever required to disclose data by lawful subpoena or court order, I will comply only with the specific portion compelled.
How long I keep data
- Form submissions: kept as long as our potential or active engagement is alive, plus a reasonable retention period after for tax and legal records (typically up to 7 years for invoiced engagements). You can request earlier deletion at any time — see "Your rights" below.
- Analytics data: retained in raw form for ~90 days, then aggregated.
- Server access logs: rotated and discarded within 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights including:
- Right to access — ask what data I have about you.
- Right to correction — fix anything that's wrong.
- Right to deletion — ask me to erase it (subject to legal retention obligations).
- Right to portability — get a copy in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object — say no to specific uses.
- Right to opt out of "sale" of personal information — relevant in California (CCPA). I do not sell personal information; this is a no-op for this site.

International transfers
I am based in the United States, so any data you submit is processed in the U.S. If you are in the EU/UK, you are sending data internationally by using this site — by submitting the contact form you are aware of that and consent to it.
Security
The contact form is HMAC-signed at the proxy layer, sent over HTTPS, and stored encrypted at rest. The phone reveal mechanic on this site exists specifically to keep my number out of plain HTML for scrapers — it is a small example of how I think about handling data.
Changes to this policy
I'll update this page when something material changes (a new processor, a new tag, a meaningfully different use). The "Last Updated" date at the top will reflect the change.
